Intensive Driving Courses

Learn to drive in weeks rather than months, with focused 1-to-1 tuition planned around you.

Weekly lessons suit plenty of people, but they can stretch learning to drive across the best part of a year. An intensive course puts your hours close together – usually a lesson every day – so nothing fades between sessions and you can reach test standard in a matter of weeks.

Lessons are booked around your life, not the other way round. Tell us about your shifts, lectures or school run, and we will fit your driving in where it gets in the way least.

Nobody starts from quite the same place, so pick the course below that sounds most like you. Torn between two? Ask us – we would rather point you to the right one than sell you hours you do not need.

Intensive courses are available in both manual and automatic cars across Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough, Northampton and the surrounding areas.

The DVSA practical test fee is paid separately and is not part of any course price.

Who it suits

Is an Intensive Course Right for You?

An intensive course is a good fit for many learners, but not for everyone. It usually suits you if:

You need your licence soon

A new job, university, or moving somewhere public transport will not reach, and a weekly lesson will not get you there in time.

You have driven before

You have had some lessons or private practice already and want to turn what you know into a test-ready standard.

You learn best with momentum

Long gaps between lessons mean relearning the same things. Closer sessions keep your progress moving forward.

You are returning to driving

After a break, or after a test that did not go your way, a focused block can rebuild your skills and confidence quickly.

You would prefer an automatic

Without a clutch or gears to master, many learners reach test standard sooner — and our courses are available in either.

You can set the time aside

Intensive learning is demanding. It works best when you can commit to the sessions and practise what you have learned.

How it works

How an Intensive Course Comes Together

  1. Tell us about you

Get in touch and tell us how much driving you have done, whether you want manual or automatic, when you are available and whether you have a date in mind.

  2. We plan your course

Your instructor recommends how many hours you are likely to need and how to spread them, based on your current level — not a one-size-fits-all package.

  3. Focused 1-to-1 lessons

Longer or more frequent sessions with the same patient, qualified instructor, building each skill step by step until it becomes second nature.

  4. Test preparation

Manoeuvres, independent driving, and realistic mock tests, so you know exactly what the examiner is looking for before the day arrives.

  5. Your practical test

We help you time your course around your test, and we will always tell you honestly whether you are ready — because a pass comes from being ready, not from a date.

What Is Included

  • One-to-one tuition with a fully qualified instructor
  • Manual or automatic — whichever suits you
  • A course planned around your experience and your goals
  • Manoeuvres, independent driving and hazard awareness
  • Mock tests, so the real one feels familiar
  • Honest feedback on your progress and your readiness for test

Before You Start: Your Theory Test

You need to have passed your theory test before you can book your practical driving test, so it is worth getting it done before — or early in — your intensive course.

Practical test dates are set by the DVSA, and availability varies from area to area. We will be straightforward with you about realistic timings rather than promise a date that is not ours to give.

Intensive Course Questions

How many hours will I need?

It depends on your experience and how quickly you progress. Someone who has never driven will need considerably more time than someone who has had lessons before, which is why we plan every course individually.

Can I take an intensive course in an automatic?

Yes. We offer intensive courses in both manual and automatic cars.

Can you guarantee I will pass?

No honest driving school can guarantee a pass. What we can promise is patient, focused tuition and honest feedback, so that when you go to your test you are ready for it.

Is an intensive course right for a nervous learner?

Sometimes — but not always. If you would rather build confidence at a gentler pace, regular lessons may suit you better. We will talk it through with you before you decide.

  • I split my lessons between Saleem and Aruna and had really positive experiences with both of them. I always found driving really difficult and had been battling with it for over a year, where I lost a lot of confidence and felt very anxious. I had a long gap from driving and then started at Serendib Driver Training where I regained my confidence and learned new techniques and skills. Aruna and Saleem zoned in on my biggest challenges and helped me to overcome them and believe in myself. After 6 lessons I took my test and passed with only a few minors. I can’t thank them enough!

  • Thank you so much for helping me to pass my test. I was a very nervous driver but Aruna put me at ease. The automatic intensive course really supports me and quickly improved my driving. Thank you again for all the support I have been given and I will definitely be recommending your driving school to friends and family

    Chloe Automatic intensive course
  • I passed first time with only 5 minors, I had Aruna who was absolutely brilliant and so patient with me (poor him). I only passed my theory last month too. I am so over the moon! THANKS ARUNA

    Kirsty
  • Thank you so much to Aruna for helping me pass with just 16 hours of driving! So happy, felt very at ease with him and his teaching skills are amazing! for being such a nervous driver I couldn’t of asked for a better instructor or outcome!

    Georgia
  • I did a course with Aruna and he really helped with my confidence and improved my driving skills massively! I always felt at ease while learning and managed to pass with 3 minors!

    Rebecca
